The SMD Tower CSS4050 delivers up to 546 SMD reels or trays and requires eight to twelve seconds to dispense any component required. Regardless of whether a single reel is requested or a complete kitting list or a component assembly programme shall be processed automatically: the controlling PC records every movement and "keeps the books" for all stored reels and component quantities.

The robot arm picks the reel securely. The reel dimensions are checked (width, diameter) and an available storage slot is allocated. Each reel is marked with a barcode which is automatically scanned when the reel is picked by the robot.

The Tower stores 7" and 13" reels with thickness from 8 to 32 mm. Jedec trays can also be stored. The storage order is random However, for components with a high storage frequency the slots with the shortest access time are used. Within the tower components are protected from electrostatic discharges and moisture.

The sophisticated operation software offers a complete component stock management, job planning, statistical data, event protocol and a software for printing of customer specific barcode labels. The temperature and the humidity within the Tower are continuously measured.

For more storage capacity, additional SMD Tower CSS4050 can be added at any time. The standard configuration of a Tower offers space for 482 reels, the maximum capacity is 546 reels.
